24H Series - Sepang 12hr - 2025

China’s Origine Motorsport scored an unexpected victory in the inaugural Michelin 12H Malaysia at PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, after a late four-lap penalty demoted the leading Herberth Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R. Herberth’s No.91 Porsche, driven to the flag by Robert Renauer, was penalized for failing to meet the minimum driving time requirements for AM drivers Ralf Bohn and Constantin Dressler. The ruling elevated Origine’s Bo Yuan, Ye Hongli, Lu Wei and Liu Hangcheng to the overall win and the GT3-AM class victory, finishing just over 30 seconds ahead of the Absolute Racing Porsche.

The Origine drivers expressed surprise and gratitude after their unexpected promotion. Bo Yuan noted that the team had worked extremely hard and originally believed they had finished second. Lu Wei praised his teammates’ efforts, revealing that Ye Hongli did not even know they had won until crossing the finish line.

Continental Racing by Simpson Motorsport secured a remarkable third place, with the No.69 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II climbing from a pitlane start after missing qualifying due to a gearbox change. Herberth Motorsport, despite the penalty, still claimed the GT3 Pro-Am class win with Alfred and Robert Renauer, Bohn and Dressler.

In the 992 category, Red Camel-Jordans.nl took class honours after a close battle with Mühlner Motorsport ended when the latter suffered a driveshaft issue four hours into the race. Modena Motorsports claimed victory in 992 AM, while Cerny Motorsport won the GT4 class with its BMW M4 GT4. The TCE-TCX class was topped by asBest Racing’s Cupra TCR DSG, and the GTX-class Vortex 2.0 entry of Lionel Amrouche, Philippe Bonnel and Victor Moutinho finished in the pits after terminal gearbox problems.
