24H Series - Barcelona 24hr - 2025
Our fifth time covering the 24hrs of Barcelona and it still remains one of favourite events of the year.
HOFOR Racing delivered a sensational and unexpected overall victory at the Michelin 24H BARCELONA, the final round of the 24H SERIES European Series. With their Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, the Swiss-based family team not only triumphed in the GT3-AM class but also clinched the outright GT3 win, marking a major milestone a decade after their last overall victory. Piloted by Alexander and Chantal Prinz, Michael Kroll, Maximilian Partl, and Torsten Kratz, the team’s performance was dominant and composed throughout the race. Chantal’s 50th Creventic start added further emotion to the achievement, while the familial bond in the driving lineup made the success all the more special.
Behind HOFOR, Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II cars completed the overall podium. HAAS RT claimed second place and the GT3-PRO class win with Matisse Lismont, Ramez Azzam, and the Guelinckx father-son duo. Third overall went to Juta Racing’s GT3-AM entry, while Proton Huber Competition secured fourth—enough to crown them champions of the overall 24H SERIES European title and the GT3 PRO-AM class. An emotional Jorg Dreisow, along with teammates Klaus Bachler and Manuel Lauck, celebrated a season-long comeback to claim the championship and drivers' title.
Elsewhere in GT3-AM, Continental Racing by Simpson Motorsport secured the class championship, narrowly edging Juta Racing’s Audi team by just two points. In the 992 class, Muhlner Motorsport emerged victorious in Barcelona, while RPM Racing’s third-place finish secured them the 992-AM class title. The GT4 category was won by Venture’s Mercedes-AMG, with father and son Neville and Christopher Jones contributing to both the race and title win. The GTX class title went to the Vortex team, and AsBest Racing claimed the TCE-TCX honors with their Cupra TCR DSG.
The race began with strong early pace from pole-sitters TFT Racing, as Maro Engel led in the opening stint. Strategy and multiple Code 60 periods soon shuffled the order. As night fell, teams like HAAS RT, Continental Racing, Juta Racing, and HOFOR Racing emerged as key contenders. Scuderia Praha’s Ferrari suffered a major setback with power steering issues, effectively ending their title hopes. Through the night, HOFOR Racing steadily gained ground, while others like TFT suffered mishaps, including a gravel excursion by Benjamin Paque.
With just hours remaining, HOFOR's lead grew, supported by solid pace and strategic execution. By the final hours, they had opened up a two-lap advantage, and Alexander Prinz brought the car home to a historic victory. HAAS RT finished second, nearly 90 seconds ahead of third-place Juta Racing. Meanwhile, THRW Racing received the Spirit of the Race award after overcoming shipping delays and finishing second in TCE-TCX—an inspiring end to a race packed with emotion, endurance, and celebration.
