IMSA - Laguna seca - 2023

Well, that was a big one ticked off the bucket list… We have been wanting to visit Laguna Seca for years now and it finally happened. Thank you very much to our clients who put their trust in us to provide their imagery and allowing us to attend these events. Plus, it was also nice to be somewhere nice and warm for a few days.

Practice and quali (Matt Campbell doing an amazing job putting the new Porsche on Pole) days all went well and without major interruptions but waking up on race day, we could hardly see out of the hotel window. That famous Californian fog had rolled in, covering the whole area. It hadn’t got any clearer by the time we had got to the circuit and the morning warm-up session even had to be postponed. It was finally announced that a shorted session would happen and we quickly gathered up out gear and headed up the hill to the famous Corkscrew. We are glad we did as it was a great opportunity for fairly unique photos, especially with most of the photographers staying in pit-lane and the paddock.

A few hours later and we were all lined up ready for race start, a few alterations to the program had to be made due to the late start and IMSA did a great job fitting everything in and getting us all started on time for the main event. After starting on Pole, Matt Campbell had a rough start, going wide in T1 and loosing a few places, other issues later in the race meaning they couldn’t convert that great grid position into a good result. It was Renger van der Zande who brought the No1 Cadillac across the line in 1st place, Campbell’s sister Porsche 963 driven by Mathieu Jaminet and Nick Tandy crossed the line 2nd and the Whelen Motorsport Cadillac come home 3rd overall.
